Profile

ground breakingRobert Goebel was well known in the local construction market during the post-war years, having worked as a carpenter, superintendent and estimator for one of the largest Spokane contractors of that time.

Bob saw the potential of having his own business and began working as an independent General Contractor out of the back of his 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air Station Wagon in 1961. His office staff consisted of himself and one other, his wife Harriet who was also raising four kids at the time. When the workload began to increase, a search for an employee culminated in the hire of Vern Olson who stayed as the Company Accountant and Secretary until his retirement in 1994. Vern carried out the day-to-day business in the Goebel home until a move was made to our longtime 715 N. Hogan Avenue address in the mid 60's, eventually other staff was hired on to fulfill the needs of our growing Corporation and in 1983 the staff moved to our current facility located at 1800 E. Trent. The Goebel boys

The Goebel sons got a taste of manual labor while working for their Dad every free hour since the age of 12. Two of the boys would later realize that the Construction business was a career worth pursuing.

Early Goebel projects included numerous renovation and small building projects, as well as several large demolition ventures. In the next several years, Goebel was fortunate to acquire its fair share of large commercial building projects by both competitive bidding and negotiation.

The 1970s brought the addition of two Goebel sons to the firm. Terry, shortly after graduating from Oregon State in Science and Mathematics, joined first to carry on and improve our commercial building tradition. Steve followed a short time later and concentrated on heavy construction and public works projects, making use of his Morrison-Knudsen experience and his Civil Engineering degree from Washington State University and professional licenses.

The Goebel team became increasingly active in all types of construction: Commercial building projects of all sizes, renovation of historic area landmarks, heavy construction, earthmoving and demolition.
